4th of July outfit

Skirt - Alannah Hill
Jumper - American Apparel
Shirt - Nasty Gal
Clutch - American Apparel
Shoes - Rubi Shoes

Happy 4th of July! I know I am Australian and we don't celebrate American Independence Day, but I thought I would do a little 4th of July outfit just for the fun of it! I hope all my readers in the USA have a great 4th of July weekend!

I found this clutch at American Apparel and I just had to have it because I've always liked anything with the American flag on it!  So I thought I would base an outfit on the red, white and blue theme. I've had the skirt for ages but the jumper and shirt are recent purchases.

I have spent my 4th of July at a friend's birthday gathering, we went to Laser Tag, then we had some dinner, then back to her place for a Sex in the City session with accompanying girl talk! Great company and a great way to spend the day!

How are you spending the weekend? Are you having 4th of July celebrations?

Train of thought

Dress - Stelly
Shoes - Wittner
Beanie - Sportsgirl
Backpack - Sportsgirl

Today I am wearing a very casual outfit which is warm and comfy for the very cold winter days we are having at the moment. I wore this outfit whilst running a few errands and meeting a friend for brunch. The top I am wearing is actually a dress, but it's too short on me so I think it looks better (and is warmer) as a top over leggings. I have recently purchased this backpack and had been looking for one for quite a while, after seeing many that were too expensive I found this reasonably priced leather one in Sportsgirl, I love it and it was just what I had been searching for!

I have been staying indoors a fair bit this past week as our weather has been extremely cold and stormy, I don't like that the weather affects me like this but it's hard to force yourself to go out when you have to battle wind and rain!

The dance showcase I was involved in recently went very well, with lots of positive feedback, so there is another one planned in a couple of months. I was also involved in a Bollywood fundraiser last week which was a lot of fun and great to be involved with some awesome people.

A couple of months ago I took up the opportunity of having my photo taken by Facehunter Yvan Rodic as part of a campaign by an optical chain here in Australia. I thought it might be fun and interesting and who would pass up the opportunity to meet the Facehunter? On the actual day of the shoot I had a couple of stressful things happen to me so when it was time to meet Facehunter I was feeling quite anxious and wasn't sure if I could do it. But I talked myself into it and he was so nice which made me feel relaxed and then he took a couple photos of me (as well as of several hundred people around Australia). My photo is being used on a current campaign on their Facebook page, I am pleased with how the photo turned out although I think you can tell that I was a bit stressed, but I am very proud of myself that I worked through my feelings and did it!

Hope you all have a great week and stay warm if you're in southern Australia! Let me know how you keep warm or if you want you can tell me about a stressful situation and how you got through it!

Leopard in the laneway

Blouse - Dissh
Pants - French Connection
Wedges - Rubi Shoes
Bag - Colette
Necklace - Tiffany & Co

It has seriously been one month since I have posted anything on my blog and even longer since I have done an outfit post! I have missed it so much. So today I am getting back into the swing of things.

In this post I am wearing these leopard print pants that I bought from French Connection a few weeks ago. I found them in store when shopping for winter clothes and fell in love immediately. I love the material and the fit of the pants, however I have found styling them a challenge for me as everything I tried to put with them didn't seem quite right. But when I found this pale grey blouse on the Dissh website I though it just might work ... when it arrived I was very happy with it, the material is so soft and I love the way it sits. So I am pleased with the way this outfit looks and I think the blouse complements the pants quite well ... don't you?

In other news I have a showcase coming up next weekend with the Beyonce dance classes that a talented friend runs. The showcase is a little bigger than usual this time as it is for a fundraiser. Basically it is just a fun way to show off what we have been learning in class the past few months ... and to release our inner (and outer) Divas!!! If you are in Melbourne you should come and check us out it's going to be awesome!

Hope you all have a lovely week, please feel free to comment and let me know what you are doing this week!

Winter Inspiration

all photos from tumblr & pinterest

We have been really lucky with the weather here the past week, perfect sunny days that still have a bit of warmth in them, but night and early mornings are very frosty and chilly. But I know that winter will be just around the corner and I will soon be layering up to keep warm!
For winter I am loving the look of midi skirts with boots so I think it will be a trend that will become my wardrobe staple! The midi is very versatile, it can be worn with a winter crop top or with a tshirt or a blouse tucked in and a jacket or coat over the top.  For winter colours I am looking forward to wearing all black or all white with a touch of animal print or a splash of tartan or bold colour like deep emerald green or burgundy. I am still on the lookout for a new coat so I really need to concentrate on finding the perfect one then I will be able to coordinate the rest of my wardrobe around it!

The past couple of weeks have been both busy and draining for me. A close friend’s mother passed away suddenly and it has been hard watching how much he and his family are hurting without really being able to do much to help.
I have also been participating in the Live Below the Line challenge to raise money and awareness for people who live below the poverty line. This meant that I could spend no more than $2 per day on food for five days this wasn't too difficult in itself as I lived mainly on porridge, toast and pasta. It was very filling but it was very bland and I found myself craving fruit and vegetables. Of course I was badly suffering from caffeine withdrawals from Day 1! It was an interesting experience for me and I was happy with the amount of money I raised, even though I would have liked to raise a bit more!

So I hope the weather is nice where ever you are. Let me know what looks you are looking forward to wearing in the coming season. Also let me know what has been challenging for you lately and what you have done to overcome it.
